These gestural abstractions feature broad swathes of color contrasted with sharp linear elements, the latter both defining space and lending the compositions a bold, expressive character. I apply paint in varying consistencies and textures to create a multi-faceted painted surface. Whilst painting, I strive for unconscious creation, embracing the notion that the image is painting itself through me. There is an element of unknowing and of surrender into possibilities beyond my control. By letting go of image making and visual anchors in reality, I let something unfold that is lyrical, expressive and new.
