Cathy Layzell

This series developed as colour records of shifting coastal environments. Each work focuses on subtle variations in tone, temperature, and intensity, held within compact chromatic fields.

Working in oil and pigment, the paintings are built through layered applications where colour accumulates, overlaps, and dissolves. The series isolates moments of perception, where colour under the condition of refracted light becomes the primary subject.
