Possessing a love of wildness, these paintings are about journeys into the remoteness of wild spaces, to make contact with my “wild self”. These vivid atmospheric paintings use a number of recuring motifs taken from Nature. Striking a balance between controlled cultivation and unfettered growth, they aim to hold the visual tension between spontaneity and calculation, wild abandon and thoughtful deliberation. These paintings explored the archetype of “wilderness” which extends deeply into our collective unconscious. I find myself drawn to the shifting elements; water, air and temperature, these theatres of transition and transformation, where one element slips or melts into another.
